Try Evince (full version) + Unrar.
I've installed them from the repo (Slacko) and it works.

Eventually you can always unpack the .cbr archive (7z can unpack rar archives, eg. 7z x name.cbr) and watch the pages separately.

Greetings!

http://jcoppens.com/soft/cbrpager/index.en.php

Works with Puppies. Better to compile in your used Puppy so that lib dependencies go right.

CBR-Pager-0.9.22

Compiled and running in LazY Puppy.

I have made German translations (.mo file) and put in a icon and a .desktop file (menu entry ---> Menu Documents).

For the Icon i did use the Screenshot of the dog (presented on the website) and made some work on it using LazY Puppy and GIMP 2.6.12.

Any links for files to use with that application?

EDIT. Link removed. Use google search and you will find test .cbr files fairly easily.

Thanks for the sample file, Geoffrey.

I did try to search for files on the web, but found only dead links (a huge number) and .rar files that extraced .jpg ( :o ) files.

As i see now, .cbr format is only a package of .jpg (or maybe other bitmap) format.

Hmmm...

Is this intelligent?

Is this creative?

Or is it only because for the money (to sell hardware and/or readers)?

I believe, such application (files) could be released also as html file or standalone interactive desktop video (using wink) - without the need of new hardware and/or software.

I was recently looking for a .cbr/.cbz reader and cbrpager would not open .cbz files for me. But (as stated earlier in this thread) Evince PDF reader will also open .cbr and .cbz files. I used this .pet in my Precise pup and it worked very well: http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pet_packages-wheezy/evince-2.32-wheezy.pet

Also made a 48x48 icon for .cbr files. To use it, save the attached icon as "application-x-cbr.png" in the appropriate directory (make a copy or link as "application-x-cbz.png" for .cbz files). Since Faenza is my icon theme, I placed the icon in /usr/share/icons/Faenza/mimetypes/48. I think /usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/mimetypes would work as well (and make different sizes and place them in the correct size directory if you need them).

Just discovered another nice feature of Evince: custom keyboard shortcuts.

Just hover your cursor over the menu item you want to assign a shortcut to (or change), and press the new shortcut key. If the key is not already in use as a shortcut, it will be assigned and appear next to the menu item.
