lsusb DOES register the camera.

Code: Select all

Bus 004 Device 002: ID 8086:0110 Intel Corp. Easy PC Camera
But I can't get it to work in Skype 4.0 Beta.

Anyone know any way to get this working?

Plug in the webcam and run the command "lsmod". Confirm that these modules are loaded - gspca_main and gspca_spca508.

If so, install guvcview from here. Note that there are two packages to download.

Does your webcam work with guvcview?

Yes, it works with guvcview, though the coloring is all blue. Kinda odd, but ok...

Now read here.

These are two alternate commands for starting skype. Make sure that you don't confuse ells with ones when you type them.

They are using libraries from your guvcview install.

Tried loading both ways. Got the error both times saying they could neither one be preloaded. So, that really doesn't work for me.

I checked my own setup. The only way I could get that error message was if I typed the command wrong.

Go into the folder /usr/lib/libv4l and check the names of the files.

The first command is what the skype README recommends for problematic webcams.

Ok.. I tried it again and apparently the second one works but the first doesn't. Skype at least recognized the webcam this time...
