Puppy Paralympics

#1 Post by Lobster »

Yesterday went to last day of competition at 2012 track and field Paralympics.
Saw swimming heats in morning, went to top of Orbit sculpture and saw the 'blade runner' in the mens finals and the last contest of the games

Here is some images from the mornings swimming
http://youtu.be/46C7OHVWAYU

Filmed on video option of KodaK Easyshare z650
Edited in Open Software (Puppy Linux Slacko 5.3.3 and Openshot SFS)
Stabilised and auto enhanced in Youtube
Background music clips from ccmixture.com

I know Openshot pretty well
So this took me a couple of hours to edit together
There is a stray shot in there but I am not going for the Oscars

I am usually not a fan of big events like olympia, soccer wm/em and stuff like that and so, usually I do not look at such events on television.

But last night, i just switched around the channels, i get to a TV station where the closing ceremonies was broadcasted live, right at the time to see the drummer with the "short arms" (do not know the English term). I was totally impressed, because i did never see something like that before - even could not imagine.

And his joy on playing with the band as a "fifth member" has put a bright smile on my face. Often i can not really explain, what i do feel on playing the drums. It is something like being one with the whole universe and having the whole universe inside me - at the same time.

But what does it meant to be for this guy? Must be a feel that never could reached by "long arm" persons.

Next they will be dancing with no legs . . .
. . . wait a minute . . .
this guy, David Toole, was at the opening ceremony. His dance was for me the most incredible piece in the show . . .

Apart from martial arts (the original reason for sport training)
I am not much interested in sports.
For some reason the British became totally obsessed with paralympic athletes.
Something has changed.
It is almost like knowing that any difficulty or impairment is no reason to give up . . .
Many years ago I developed a style of fighting done from a full lotus (cross legged). I thought of it as a totally passive system . . . now I am not so sure . . .
