have Slacko 5.3.3 on 2 PC's / full install
get always this error msg
"/usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftops failed"
and no pop up screen to select where to "print" the file (e.g. /tmp) which was true for Lucid 5.2.5
Any fix for it ?

CUPS-PDF printer problem
I just tested this with a fresh install of Slacko 533 and it worked OK. I printed from both Abiword and Seamonkey. In both cases, they saved a PDF file to /root.
Look in the folder /usr/lib/cups/filter and check that the file pdftops is actually there.
You can also use the "Print to File" option instead of CUPS-PDF.

yes - the file is there

It may be that the pdftops filter has incorrect permissions. Type the command:
Code: Select all
chmod 755 /usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftops
typed the chmod cmd. It was accepted but no better results.
I have as well tried a "virgin" slacko installation. CUPS -PDF printing failed from the very beginning.
One thing went wrong when shutting down the first time.
Probing partitions was not displayed.
It didn't display the message "which partition to select for the "save file".
Only when clicking again "reboot" it displayed "probing partitions" and subsequently stored the save file
