Distorted sound on a Compaq Presario V5000

#1 Post by darrenforster99 »

I have been using Puppy Linux for a while and I notice when I go to certain websites like Grooveshark or TuneIn the sound is amplified so much that it distorts the sound when going through the speakers, however if I turn the volume down on their websites and turn the volume up using the volume control the volume goes to the same level (and higher) without the distortion

I presume it's something to do with their amplification routines or something that is causing the issue. If I try this in Windows I don't get the distortion though.

Any idea what is causing this distortion and is there a way to rectify it?

Just an idea : Check if some of the PC-Speaker modules are loaded like "snd-pcsp" or "pcspkr" .

Another idea : Some sound modules have a modem module additionally like "snd-intel8x0" has a "snd-intel8x0m" ^twin^ .
