Hello,
After some test with slacko, i installed lucid because of the deb system i'm used to.
Sorry for the beginners questions, but i do not find it...
I have the following problems:
1) i misconfigured my desktop resolution. How can i put it smaller?
2) i installed tightvncserver from the repo, (ubuntu repo) but it is not mentioned in the 'network' directory. How can i configure/start it?
Already thankt!
puppy lucid problems
Hi koenh,
Slacko can use debs and I should think the Ubuntu repo has tightvnc. Are you using the Puppy Package Manager to search for software?
To answer your questions
1) To change monitor resolution. Assuming you can still use the desktop, go to
PuppyMenu - Setup - Xorg Wizard
this program has a resolution changer

2) To run tightvnc. By 'network' directory I assume your talking about the Network sub-menu in the Puppy Menu?
You can either run tightvnc from the terminal using one of its commands
eg. to start vnc server the command would be vncserver
, see http://www.tightvnc.com/doc/unix/README.txt
Or you can create a menu entry for each command. The menu is created using the .desktop files in /usr/share/applications
you may find the MenuEntryMaker app useful

Another alternative is to find a PET software packae, these usually come with ready-made menu entry. There is one here, though it may be out of date-
