How to put my save file on the USB drive with Puppy?[Solved] |
|
Hi, i am new to Puppy. I am using it by booting from a USB flash drive.
When i want to surf the internet, i have to download a browser first. If i shutdown my system, the browser setup also goes away. I want to save my settings so that i need not download it every time. How can i do it?
I know Puppy files can be saved in the same usb drive i am booting from but how? I dont get any prompts for saving files when i shut down the system.

What Puppy version are you using?
Look on your USB drive for a file named syslinux.cfg. Post its contents here.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I am using Lucid 5.2.8. Here are the contents of the syslinux.cfg file-
default puppy
display boot.msg
prompt 1
timeout 50
F1 boot.msg
F2 help.msg
F3 help2.msg
label puppy
kernel vmlinuz
append initrd=initrd.gz pmedia=usbflash

That looks OK.
When you shut down, select "Exit to Prompt". Then type the command "reboot". That may show you the dialog for creating a savefile.

You could manually create a save file that should be found on subsequent boot.
See Here

Thanks Trapster for suggesting the link for manually creating the save file. I created the save file manually in my usb drive and on reboot, it took the last saved session. Thanks a ton...
