Unstable wireless connection

Hello!

The wireless connection randomly disconnect. Sometimes (and even some entire days) it works without a problem, but other times it just keeps disconnecting me. I can be online for a few seconds or minutes and then it suddenly disconnects me. After a while it might reconnect automatically or I have to try to force it by clicking "reset" or "enable" or reinstall the wireless software, reboot and what not. I've had this problem on several different WLAN's and I've had Windows machines right next to me that haven't lost their connections. I've also experienced similar problems with another laptop using Puppy Linux.

I'm now using an EEE PC 1005HA with Slacko Puppy 5.3.3. I use Frisbee and the ath9k module.

Could it be going into sleep mode?

there's an app to prevent this

also, if your experienced you could try direct control from commandline-

Nope, it's not going into sleep mode. It disconnects randomly while I'm doing stuff. Probably any second now... One of those days.

Thanks! I might try the stuff in the other thread, but it's a huge thread.

You could try a different WiFi channel. (If your neighbours are broadcasting on the same channel you currently use they could be knocking you off ).

Looks like there has been work on done ath9k recently, though dont know which chipset your using

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 0#p1071990

but even slacko 5.3.5 doesn't use kernel 3.3+

maybe try Dpup Exprimo 5.X.3.4.10 with 3.4.2 kernel.

Sometimes....very infrequently in Frisbee you have to

>>>>

In Frisbee >> delete your profiles

Restart

>> Hit Connect

Frisbee starts...

Select >> Wireless Diagnostics

Select Ap_scan

Change the >> Ap_scan Parameter

from 1 to >> 2
for a better connection to a hidden network

Exit Frisbee

Hit Connect >> Frisbee starts...>> Wireless Network refresh

A few moments later...networks reappear

Fill in your details...and Frisbee connects.
