qtractor-0.6.2

#1351 Post by Geoffrey »

Compiled and added qtractor-0.6.2 to the repo, Qtractor is an Audio/MIDI multi-track sequencer application.

Thanks to battleshooter for some of the library files that were required.

I don't have anything to test the midi side of things with.

I added the rubberband plugin so the speed and pitch can be adjusted.

Repacked skype-4.2.0.13-lina, there is a pet and sfs in the repo, the pet is smaller wheres the sfs contains the qt library files to make it a standalone, this can be used in Carolite which doesn't have qt pre-installed.

Hi.

The latest applications for Carolina compiled by battleshooter did made me curious and so I downloaded Carolina 1.2 a few days ago.

Yes, this is a nice OS and it seems to work fine - as far as I could test.

Just a single issue noticed so far when using DE interface.

When switching to de (de_DE) all the menus are in DE (as far as they have those [de] entries). But when enabling UTF-8 all the menus are returning to EN.

Any tips on this?

I changed the language to DE and toggled UTF-8 restarted x, I couldn't see any distinguishable difference in the menu, all the DE entries showed.

Maybe someone else has this problem and can shed some light on it.

I downloaded the Slimboat update & gstreamer files.

I put the gstreamer files where instructed /slimboat/libs but am unsure what to do with the Slimboat update so that it will update the original & not create a second install.

Help, please?

Also, lina1.2 looks and works great on a Samsung NB30 Netbook.

Thanks!

I have added the latest slimboat-1.1.50-lina.sfs to the repo, look in the PPM SFS Downloads.

This is still slow for me when using Google image search.

Then don't use Google image search ... perhaps there is a more-efficient image search engine?

Just wondering ... but then I avoid Google-anything like the plague ...

My life revolves around Google for everything, email, phone, tablet, I'm not at all paranoid about them, they will never get my soul

hulu.com is demanding a more recent version of Flash player (when will be rid of that abombination) so I downloaded & extracted the latest but can't figure out where to put it.
Hulu requires Flash Player 10.1.53.64 or higher. Please download and install the latest version of Flash Player before continuing.
Is anyone else seeing this, please?

How to fix?

Thanks - David

There is the latest flashplayer 11.2.202.394 in the repo, that will overwrite the current version.

I can't help with testing that here in Oz

Just a note to let people know, I've had a catastrophe, my HDD with all my Carolina files has failed big time, I've lost all my working files and repo content, luck as I uploaded the last things I was working on the other day, I'll be a while before I can get back into it, looks as if my windows drive is cactus too, can't find it anymore

Wait ... did I want the Flash Preferences 11.2.202.304 pet or theother Flash 11 pet?

I ran the plain 11 rather than Preferences & nbow Slimboat is unstable.

It's been a long day ...

I'll load a fresh install of Carolina 1.2 & Slimboat & begin clean in the morning.

Praying you get that HDD mess sorted simple & soon.

Errgh, that's awful, I'm with Edoc, what a nightmare. I don't suppose the hard drive is recoverable at all? I once had a hard drive that I thought was completely dead but forum member Aitch helped me get that thing back to life and I was able to recover the files. Another time I had a hard drive crash it was just a faulty jumper.

Anyway, my sympathies. I hope you didn't lose any personal data as well, that can be harder to replace than project files. :(

@battleshooter,

The drive was iffy to begin with, I would lose it occasionally, now it just clicks with power applied, it's 1.5TB that was failing, so SMART say's, not to worry, I have a few more pc's, but this was the best one to work on with 4gigs of ram and a nvidia graphics card, I'm running on it now with a USB flash and Carolite, the windows drive I can now access but it gives blue screen of death booting, at lest I can retrieve my music, I'll save what I can on my 1.5TB network drive. :)

Glad to hear it's not a total loss. And you have a few alternate machines available as well. Good luck with the salvage operation ;)

Desktop has disappeared

#1370 Post by Terry H »

I was thinking of using Carolina on my parent-in-laws PC to replace XP and was attempting to see how I could set up Carolina to make the transition easy for them. I was attempting to create a launcher for thunar on my desktop to open in a particular folder.

I entered the name, command (thunar) and the folder start in. When I attempted to save this new launcher, the desktop flashed a bit then went to an all grey screen with no icons displayed. My 2 xfce-4panel's are still displayed and functional. Any mouse clicks on the grey screen have no effect.

I have restarted X Windows, Exit to prompt and restarted xwin and rebooted but still have the grey screen.

I have no idea how to get the desktop back, other than starting from scratch again . Any assistance greatly appreciated.
