Hello All,

Not sure this is even possible with my setup, I'm running an old 1.6GHz single core Tiny PC with 256 meg of ram and a 60 Gig hard drive. I'm running Puppy using the Live CD but with all my settings saved to my hard drive (It will not install any other way) I wondered is it still possible to download torrents using this type of set up ? Where will they go and how do I do it ? I'm not sure of the Puppy version but I marked the disk 2010. I've used Mandriva and Ubuntu based Linux in the past but never really used Puppy other than a quick trial so being gentle with me and treating me as a thicko will help here.My attempts so far have failed.

The torrent D/L`r for Puppy is called Transmission...
But, personally, I use Utorrent (Windoze) in Wine..
Wine is a "windoze emulator" and is available in the package manager.
Then D/L Utorrent and install it to the Wine "C" drive in "program files"..
Transmission is faster, but Utorrent is more user friendly..

I personally use Qbittorrent. Imo, all the torrent clients are the same, none is faster. I always reach the same max speeds with any client, 150kB/s is my max, every client goes at that speed... MAYBE some torrent clients comes with other ports instead of the ones that you have opened on your router so that slows down the incoming connections, etc. Anyways, qbit is cool because it also has a search function.

which ever torrent client you choose, you'll need to set the location of the download folder in the programs preferences. set this to somewhere outside the save file . for example /mnt/home/downloads

1.6 GHz single core is not that bad.
Using a swap partition will improve your situation.

Thanks for your help everyone it's much appreciated but this leads to another question , as I have used transmition ( my present torrent program is Pctorrent download) on all my other Linux versions I wish to stick with that but how do I download and install it with Puppy ?
