The Save Problem in Puppy Linux (Lucid) |
|
I am a beginner in Puppy linux. I have installed the latest Lucid version of Puppy in my flash drive (and I am using it from my flash drive). I have also configured the internet options. But the problem is, I have downloaded and installed "Chromium" browser and used it. Then I saved the session and shut down my computer. When I booted again, I was shocked to see that all my installed softwares (like Chromium etc.) were absent and I had to re-install them. Please tell me how to retain my software after installing them.. Urgent.. Thanks in advance..

Hello,
Where did you put the savefile, and does it load during boot?

On my flashdrive |
|
When I was shutting down my Puppy for the first time, it asked me where to save the savefile. I chose to save it in my flash drive. I chose the size of the savefile as 512mb. I am not sure whether it loads everytime. Can u tell me how to check whether it loads or not? And also tell me how to make it load if it doesn't load?

saivikas3,
if you did create the savefile, then you ought to see the following or something very similar when booting.
Loading vmlinuz
Loading initrd.gz
Loading drivers needed to access disk drives.
Searching for Puppy files ...
Loading personal file /***save-**.2fs (sdb1)
Loading the '***.sfs' main file... copying to ram
Setting up the layered filesystem...
etc........
in the above the personal (save) file is in the / (root) of flash drive sdb1.
*** depends on the version of Puppy which you are using
** depends on the special name (if any) you have given to your save file
cheers
