devx_003.sfs + SDL lib 1.2.9 compile problem..?

puppy2a7+devx_003.sfs
want to compile libSDL 1.2.9 .. I think that this is working in qemu at work..?
now want to setup same at home..but get ./configure error:
configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check

???
Any help/clues appriciated - need help..
