Lighthouse 64 5.15 F release notes | ISOs | SFS add-ons | What is an SFS?

Please refer to the release notes for news, features, bugs, etc.

Also please re-size any screenshots to 720 pixels wide or less and wrap descriptions to keep posts from scrolling horizontally. Larger images can be linked. Thanks!

Frugal install is recommended.

Getting Started and System Requirements | Display drivers in LH64

Alternate downloads: Q5sys set up bittorrents: To run Firefox as root, click Menu -> Setup -> Choose Default Browser -> Firefox (root). However I don't recommend doing so. Much safer to just run as spot, saving to the default Downloads folder, then click on Downloads on the desktop and move the file elsewhere as needed.

If you have a very large download, it is best to use wget in a terminal, or click Menu -> Internet -> Pwget downloader and copy and paste in the URL.

Note: For the experimental multi-session mode CD/DVD, boot with puppy pfix=ram to ensure that you can save the first session back to the LiveCD/DVD, (this is PUPMODE=77.)

We're indebted to all beta testers, developers and end users who've contributed immensely to Lighthouse64. You're the best! :D

I have created a torrent which by my tests works in windows so I'll post.

Seeding for awhile.
all the trackers are reporting offline or other errors. I tried from multiple boxes and IPs. So no clue whats going on with that. I'll create and throw a .torrent up on my 10gbit box and put the .torrent on http://linuxtracker.org/ It'll be active by noon.

I'll do one for both the base ISO and Mariner ISO.

@ 01Micko

Just tried the torrent in Transmission but got an error message regarding the 'Tracker', I'm guessing it's a fault at my end and not with your torrent file.

Hi TaZoc,

It's working great. :D Although, I have run into a few minor problems.

1. Firefox-spot freezes when using Ctrl + to resize fonts. This does not happen when running firefox from a console.

2. Bibletime 2.8.1, installed using the ppm gives an error.

Code: Select all

bash-4.1# bibletime
(BibleTime 2.8.1) _FATAL_: Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (version 0x40601) with this library (version 0x1040700)
Please report this bug! (http://www.bibletime.info/development_help.html)Aborted
<root> ~
bash-4.1#
I tried installing Bibletime 2.9.1 from Fatdog64, however it will not install. Good news is that Bible Analyzer, eSword, and theWord all work fine under Wine.

3. KDE desktop will not load, it reports "Could not start D-Bus. Can you call gdbus?" then goes back to logout dialogue. Other desktops work fine.

It's great to have you back and to see further progress on Lighthouse.

Kudos, :D
Jim

Hi Jim,

Bibletime is on my list. Haven't been able to reproduce Firefox freeze here, maybe related to display driver? Is that on an NVIDIA or Intel box?

Try installing 4-KDE-4.6.5-x86_64-F.sfs, Gvfs-1.8.1-x86_64 with BootManager and reboot if you haven't already. Won't work with SFS_load-on-the-fly unless you reboot first. Or boot Mariner with pfix=ram, selecting KDE, Gvfs at the SFS 5 sec. boot prompt dialog. If that doesn't work check the md5sums with click-to-verify-mariner and also the KDE and Gvfs SFS individually. Still no go, then please switch to another WM with KDE still loaded and attach a sys-info-yy-mm-dd.gz.

Nvidia, hope these help. Firefox does not freeze using Ctrl + when running from root.

I believe @Smokey01 made a contribution of SeaMonkey and GeeGie for 64bit.
And, @Asterick made a Contribution of VBox, here

Questions
  • Does that PET work here and can it be added to the LH64 Repo?
  • Is the mission of the "Update" still a means to update the present system?
  • Should any problems be expected beyond the initial Live media save-session or does it work the save as it had in past (5.14, 5.12, etc)?
Thanks for such a beautiful effort that the integration seen in Mariner offers. Thanks everyone!

That pet seems to be geeqie that has been tweaked to work seamlessly with SeaMonkey. I tried to install it on a test LHP515 install and it failed to install.

It seems it needed GLIBC_2.14

LHP515 only comes with GLIBC_2.13

:( Sorry Gcmartin, it wont work with any of the versions of LHP released so far.
From my knowledge, TazOC is planning on a more current GLIBC version for his next release, but since he's just released 515, it'll be a while till the next version comes out.

All this pet making has been a compile nightmare.

At first I had few tools for getting things done.

Ive taken the time (and for my own sanity) to make pets and sfs's of all my build tools and other pets/sfs's ive made / barrowd. The creator is listed so you know who to blame!

You can find them here: http://lhpuppetsfs.puppytune.org/

You must install these Depends(pets) first.

sword-1.6.2-x86_64.pet (meeki)
1.6MB
PET: http://lhpuppetsfs.puppytune.org/pet/sw ... x86_64.pet
MD5: http://lhpuppetsfs.puppytune.org/pet/sw ... 64.pet.md5

Now you can install Bibletime

bibletime-2.9.1-x86_64.pet (meeki) 16MB
PET: http://lhpuppetsfs.puppytune.org/pet/bi ... x86_64.pet
MD5: http://lhpuppetsfs.puppytune.org/pet/bi ... 64.pet.md5

Notes:

When you install Bibletime pet is says no menu entry. This could be a bug in my system but I found it in Start>Personal>Bibletime

I also Had to do some lib work on the start command under /usr/bin/bibletimestart this sets the lib to the opt folder for Qt and the icu libs. If you install a newer version of Qt you will need to mod the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to the new location of the Libs.

enjoy

:)

alsa issues

Im still not able to get alsa to utilitze multiple threads. Only one application at a time can use alsa. Other programs report that the device is not accessable.

Somewhere I think the dmix settings are wonky.

is this about the Cairo-Dock i build? sorry i have a bunch of stuff built

If its Cairo-Dock I really don't know why its doing that. I only played with it for 2 min after I built it to see if it worked.

I included all the file folders and stuff i ued to build it in a tar file. Next week Ill give it another go. again not having gtk+3 and or newer version of glibc we are limited on what we can do with Cairo-dock ATM.

No thats about a bug in Alsa Ive been dealing with that I cant resolve.
As for Cairo-Dock, I tried to run it but I got a GTK error. I must have a mismatched lib in my system that caused a conflict. I'll try it on a fresh install sometime this coming week.
