Desktop Icon text colour

#1 Post by Laurie Tedcastle »

In Puppy 4.1.2, Lucid 5.1.1 and Slacko 5.3.1, the text associated with icons on the desktop is in white which works well with dark wallpaper such as dark-grey.

In Puppy Precise 5.4.3, the text is black which is unusable on dark wallpapers. I would like to upgrade to Precise to get access to the Ubuntu repositories.

Is there a way to change the text colour associated with the desktop icons?

All help would be much appreciated.

I don't have Precise. This is how it is done in Puppy 4.3.1. I'm hoping that it hasn't changed.

1. Point at any desktop icon.
2. Press and hold the right mouse button.
3. Select ROX-Filer -> Options.
4. On the left side of the Options dialog, click Pinboard.
5. Under Appearance, click the box next to Foreground.

You should now see a Color Selection dialog, and can choose your color.

Hi, Laurie.

Season's Greetings!

Click on the "House" icon. This brings up a rox panel. In any blank space of the rox panel, do a right-click. In the menu that springs up, click "Options". A panel of options appears. Click on the second "triangle" (second main item), marked PinBoard.

To the right, one third approx. from the top of that panel, you'll see three color rectangles. The first one controls the text color, the third one, the text background. When you click on these rectangles a color wheel appears and you can choose any color suitable for your background.

Have fun!

Seasons Greetings to all.

Thanks for the prompt replies.
Works a treat!
I new it had to be possible, but I think I would have been prone in my box, 6 feet under, before coming up with that solution.
