How to save desktop icons and settings after reboot
How to save desktop icons and settings after reboot
I am currently running a dual boot with windows 7 and puppy on my laptop. Every time I download and install a browser it is lost after rebooting. I have tried to install while my puppy partition (sda2) was mounted and both unmounted. I have also tried to restart x server. All though I am not entirely sure what that does. I just read that you should do that so I gave it a try. I have then also saved my file when puppy shuts down on multiple occasion. I can go into the saved file to retrieve the application and run fire fox for example. Though when I try and make a short cut to the desktop and reboot it disappears. Thanks, and yes I am a noob. If there are wiki help links for this feel free to post them. I am having trouble finding any help. Thanks.
Could you clarify a bit?
What I am understanding is that firefox installed, you can use it, and it is staying put when you reboot.
What is *not* staying when you reboot, is the shortcut to firefox on the desktop.
In a nuthsell: You can reboot all you want and still open a terminal and type 'firefox' and it will work. However the desktop / pinboard icon goes away every time you reboot.
If this is the case, does the icon in your Internet menu persist after rebooting?
OR: Does firefox itself disappear as well every time you reboot?
Thanks,
Hap
