Barry has recently re-introduced the idea of service packs to Puppy. (Early Puppies had updates provided by another developer. I think they were called dotpups.)
This is all fine and dandy for people who install Puppy fully or frugally or those who use savefiles.
But what about chronic live-CDers who use pfix=ram at virtually every boot?
Presumably we can just remaster the iso with the updated service pack? Is there a failsafe or best way to do this?
I feel I should probably already know this as I have been using Puppy on and off for about 8 years, but I have never remastered any of them.
I do occasionally install save files, but they usually end up being wiped for one reason or another. I have only installed Puppy twice.

Hi,
You could make a multisession CD, only saving service packs
or important additions back to the CD occasionally.
After your first set-up and save back to your CD or DVD
you can just let it boot in future, but not save on close or
reboot.
You do not need to remaster and to speed booting you could
copy your PuppyVersion.sfs file to your hard drive.

and burn your PuppyVersion.iso - thats all the necessary
basics, but there are smart extras (if you want or need them).

I agree with Jasper: Discover the power of multisession Puppy!
If the service pack is a one-click install sort of thing that takes effect immediately, like a .pet does for instance, then it should work even if you're running Puppy entirely in RAM, in which case saving to the multisession CD or DVD should result in an upgraded Puppy when next you reboot.
If you have to reboot after installing the service pack to make it take effect, then I don't see how you could save it onto a multisession CD or DVD. In that case I suppose you'd have to figure out how to remaster after installing the service pack.
