Which Puppy?

#1 Post by geoff777 »

Hi I need a stripped down pup to work on a really old Pentium 4 Dell Laptop.

I only need the latest SM PLayer as I'll just use it for watching videos.

Is there a bare bones puppy I can add the SM Player to?

Thanks

Hi geoff777

The attatched menu.lst is not zipped - just rename to menu.lst

It shows all the Puppies that I currently run on my 10yr old Acer laptop.

They are all good and all have various advantages -
but the Wary Puppies are the most responsive and consume least resources.

If you have 256mb ram or more and a swap partition - all should be ok.

There was a stripped lupu that may well be perfect - in fact any lupu is good.
Also ttuuxxx made a special Wary 511 Puppy for movie playback.
He also made a 214 based Puppy that I'm sure would be ok too.

Additionally, although not stripped, (exactly the opposite) John Biles made
Legacy OS2 (214 based) which would also be well worth a look.

HTH - have fun - very best regards - Ray

edit - just rememberd this - http://412collection.co.uk

There are also the Turbo and Turbo Extreme Pups which are based on the 4.2 Puppy series and work well even on old machines. I don't know if they'll run SMPlayer though.
