power management in Saluki linux

I am running saluki linux. In Windows, my cooling fan on the laptop used to slow down or stop briefly when not needed. Is there a good utility that will do this and other power management in Saluki? My laptop is Gateway MX 3560

try asking in the Saluki thread. But anyways I am still mildly a linux n00b.
