Hello all
I have slacko 5.3.1 installed on USB stick and it works fine.
When I exit, however, then the session is saved to the ...slackosave... file on the usb stick.
Is there any way that I can choose whether or not to save on exit, because I vary rarely change anything while logged into puppy. Used mainly for querying etc of bank accounts on internet.
How to choose whether to save to USB install on exit?
Savefile contains the configuration you choose on first running Puppy and any extra programs etc.
One option is to remaster Puppies base sfs - so Puppy has your choices by default (in the base sfs) and therefore the savefile isn't needed.

The following is how I do it:
A. See this post.
And...
B. How to prevent the spurious warning as a pupsave installation of Puppy boots, that the previous shut-down was improper.
Then....
C. To make "Don't Save..." the default in the shut-down dialog, rather than "Save...".

On some of my systems I prefer to have "save" as the default (in case I want to remember newly added bookmarks etc), but I also want the ability to shutdown safely without waiting for the savefile to update at the end of the session.
Under those circumstances I add a "Dont save" icon onto the desktop so that I just click it and walk away (no questions asked). See here for an alternative (but similar) method to achieve this:

Thanks for all the advice, sorry to be so late getting back.
I eventually used the method referred to by greengeek,

and this works fine.
