Is there software for making invitation cards?

Paint programs, vector editors, 3d modelers, animation editors, etc.

Have you tried opening your old cards under Abiword? (the built in word processor)

There are heaps of free programs 'out there', google 'free linux invitation card templates', and you'll get some 5.7 million hits... :D

Also, I haven't used openoffice for some time, but I think there is a card template in there somewhere, maybe as an add-on.
