Flash Player for Wary Puppy 5.3 Subject description: whch flash player? |
|
what is Wary Puppy 5.3 based on? Would that be .deb, ubuntu, .rpm, or which?
My current Flash Player is not doing the job so I went to the Adobe Flash Player website to download the newest version. Which do I choose to install for Wary Puppy 5.3?
YUM for Linux
.tzr.gz for other Linux
.rpm for other Linux
APT for Ubuntu 10.04
Also, when I was on the webiste, it has a note that said:
"Adobe Flash Player 11.2 will be the last version to target Linux as a supported platform. Adobe will continue to provide security backports to flash player 11.2 for Linux. Is this going to be a problem for Linux users in the future?

You might want to use GetFlash, instead (if it's not already installed on your system (look for "GetFlash Install Flashplayer" in the Internet section of your Puppy menu)). It'll check to see whether or not you have the latest version of Flash, and offer to install (or reinstall) one or more versions of Flash (such as Flash v10).
As for Adobe's decision to end major updates for Flash... I couldn't tell you, at the moment. Flash's performance on anything other than Windows tends to be rather mediocre, so there's no chance at the moment of seeing anything fixed unless it's a security issue.
I'm not looking forward to the possibility of a security problem serious enough that it can't be solved by simply patching the Flash v11 engine, though, and seeing if Adobe would finally decide to provide more than just a security update, then...

Try downloading and installing GetFlash, then?
