Installing Flash and Java for SeaMonkey (SOLVED)

Greetings,
This may be a simple question, but I did check first, I'm confused on installing Flash and Java for SeaMonkey, i.e., what folders to extract the tar files to. I have Puppy Wary 5.3 if that makes a difference.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Greetings ; -)
1a) Java you need to download to /mnt/home (frugal) from this link-
http://101.143.162.62/puppy/opt/
use, jre-1.6.0.37.sfs
or, jre-1.7.0.09.sfs
1b) Use SFS Load to install
2)Flash use get flash, build in with some Puppy (not sure about Wary)

Java and Flashplayer in Wary

In wary 5.3, which I often use, work the latest java and the latest flashplayer:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9iMb4 ... GVuVHM0SEE
Is a sfs of Oracle jre-7u10-i586
From:
http://get.adobe.com/it/flashplayer/com ... %29_32-bit
click on the downloaded archive and extract libflashplayer.so in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins.
I have to say that I use the latest Firefox instead of the built-in browser after installing dbus and dbus-glib.

Greetings darkcity and watchdog and Happy New Years to you and yours
I'm still a noob to Linux, and I saved the file to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins, but I cannot extract it (I was trying to use XArchive).
Can either of you walk me through the process so that I can successfully update Flash and Java for SeaMonkey.
Thanks!

You can download the archive .tar.gz where you want, /root/my-documents for example. Click on it. Xarchive will show the content of the archive. Highlight libflashplayer.so and click on Extract. Then click Choose to browse to desired destination /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. Click Ok. Done. Restart the browser for the new flashplayer having been releaved.

Wary 5.3:
Java is already enabled; don't worry about it.
Download "Getflash".
Click file to install.
Go to menu-internet, click Getflash.
Avoid doing updates in Linux unless absolutely
necessary.

Watchdog,
Ok - Flash is a go - cool. Thanks!
Now about Java - I extracted all of the files to the same directory you mentioned (/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins) but I'm still a no-go. It still says I'm missing Java.
Did I extract it to the wrong folder or do I need to do something else?
Thanks!

No, what have you done! You don't need to extract anything for java. I gave you a sfs at:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9iMb4 ... GVuVHM0SEE
Put the jre-7u10-i586.sfs file in the root directory where you have the savefile: click down left Menu, System, BootManager configure bootup. Click "Choose which extra files to boot at startup": you will see in the left-panel your Jre-7u10-i586.sfs. Add it to right panel. Click Ok. Reboot and java will be loaded at startup. Alternatively you can load the sfs file on the fly with sfs_load-1.2.pet or other versions. Search for it.

Doh! Sorry - Ok, followed your instruction carefully this time, downloaded it, etc., but when I pull up BootManager to try and choose the SFS file it gives me an error saying there are no SFS files in directory /mnt/home (which there are - I see it!!! Well, more specifically I downloaded it to /mnt/home/root which you said) or they all have the wrong '*_nnn.sfs' version number.
I swear I didn't do anything wrong this time!
Any suggestions?

Download jre-7u10-i586.sfs to /mnt/home. This is the root directory of the filesystem. You will see it.

Same problem - downloaded it directly to /mnt/home from the link you provided, and the BootManager is still giving me an issue
Do you need a screen shot no offense?
Thanks!

Be calm. Where have you the savefile? What kind of installation have you done?

No problem watchdog. Thanks for your help (and patience!!!) so far.
Safefile (the .sfs file you linked me to I take it), I downloaded it directly to /mnt/home. I'm not too sure of what kind of installation - I guess you mean my Puppy version - I have Puppy Wary 5.3 full.
If not, I didn't extract the .sfs file this time or whatever - just put it in /mnt/home. I personally see it there, but BootManager doesn't.

If you have a full install you must load the sfs file on the fly: "BootManager configure bootup" doesn't work for a full install. You need a sfs_load-1.2.pet installed and working in your wary installation. Read:
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/HowtoAddSFStoFullInstall
Alternatively from:
http://java.com/en/download/linux_manual.jsp?locale=en
Download the original jre-7u10-linux-i586.tar.gz file. Click on it to open it with Xarchive. Select all and extract to /usr/local/java (make the directory java in /usr/local). Then open a terminal and write:
Code: Select all
ln -s /usr/local/java/jre1.7.0_10/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so
Return. Restart browser and see if it works.

Watchdog,
Cool - that did the trick (thanks!
). I just have one more question. Seems like SeaMonkey and Firefox are both Mozilla. So how can I update java and flash on the Firefox side? Do I have to download the files again? Or is it a terminal command?
Thanks!

You cannot update java and flashplayer on the firefox side. They are different softwares. Don't care to continuosly update: enjoy your puppy now. When updating java and flashplayer you have to do this job again downloading the latest versions and removing the previously installed.
