HI, e_mattis and the bunch! | Bonjour, e_mattis et la bande !

Désolé de mon absence bien involontaire. | Sorry for my unwilling absence.

Merci d'avance.

My ISP was out for three days. I had to get my e-mails from the public library. No fun.

There is no SQLite plug-in for opera, only for the firefox/seamonkey family of browsers.

The software I was introducing is called mynotex. It's pretty much along the lines of notecase, as pelo remarked. It's an information gatherer rather than a real DB.

I meant to ask you of your POS system was compatible with SQLite, and how to set it up. Thanks in advance. Merci d'avance.

Hey Musher,

The POS system I have been using is opensource point-of-sale. It is a MySql based db. I use it with XAMPP, so the set up was very simple.

Once XAMPP was installed, i simply placed the osPOS into the htdocs folder, edit two files with the server information, and went to the 'install.php' page.

The XAMPP sets up the MySql, so i did not have to do anything other than install xampp.

Hope it helps

Salut musher

@e_mattis
Would you already have a usable draft package of XAMPP and osPOS we could test? Didn't you mention something about that in jrb's thread?

I feel the project is ripening, and perhaps it would be ok to try your package out now as a first "delivery" of Pupy's micro-business capacity? What do you think?

2nd step could be LO or AOO, installed by user. With support from volunteers in this thread or other.

3rd step would be complementary java BDs (e.g. DataCrow), csvfix and dmcsv, etc.. Also copy of the various templates explored here.

hey Musher,

I will admit, i'm not familiar with the 'LO' and 'AOO' terminology; and barely getting used to javascript  lol

I do have a heafty iso build using the xampp and osPOS together (463MB). I will try to get it uploaded and link it here today.

you can see a demo of the osPOS on a webserver at http://data.deadaccurate.com/ospos user admin password pointofsale

opensource point-of-sale works really well, but I am not sure if it is graphically good for a business version. It is more comical with a 'windowze vista-like' look.

I also tried PHPWpos but it would not write to the db once installed. I also tried an older version of PHPpos but it would not install.

I will post the packages for both the xampp and ospos and a brief description of how to install it in the next post.

I like the idea of volunteer support and who knows, maybe this will find a home here :D

Thanks!

@e_mattis

LO= Libre Office ; AOO = Apache Open Office
Sorry for using lingo! | Désolé d'utiliser du langage d'initié !

Just a thought:
Perhaps it would be better if actually all items in this project had their own thread, maybe linked or referenced through a main one. Otherwise people might find it confusing. I'll "talk" to ASRI, the moderator, about it.

Looking forward to your upload!

Success! (See attached.) :)

A few notes :
* what are the default codename and password for POS, so we can test it?
* java link leads to /mnt/home/java, which is not there ?
* openbox menu desn't recognize installed French language pack?
* osmo mislabeled as planner in wbar, whereas it's more properly a PIM
* we would need to add the real "planner" (project planner) provided in wary/racy.

But those are only details we can correct later, really.

Wow! Bravo!

---- Traduction ----
Réussite ! (Voir ci-joint.) :)

Quelques remarques :

Ouf ! Bravo !

As an aside, sbp, as a title, is a bit abstract. :) Would you know of a dog breed that's mostly used in business, or has a "merchant" instinct? 8) :P

Thanks Musher,

Sorry, thought I provided them earlier  - the credentials for the POS are

 username: admin. password: pointofsale

/mnt/home/java is where it is located on the frugal install I used to build it. I made sure the .pet file was with the iso. :?: Not sure why it would work if /mnt/home is not there, but when I tested n another computer it worked!? :?

Dont know why openbox would not recognize the Fr pack. Did nothing to openbox as far as modifications go. may be a bug in 5.2.8? :?

As far as Osmo goes, yes, it would be better named PIM. The 'planner' from wary /racy would probably be a better choice to plan, but Osmo suited at the time...not great, but usable. I'll have to see if I can get the planner to replace osmo.

Small Business Pup is just what came to me - popped in my head you can say. I don't really know of a breed that is associated with business in general. Some of the ones I think of associated in this country:

Doberman, Gernman shepard, rotweilder, etc = Security systems; Saint Bernard, dalmation, etc = rescue; bulldog, wolf, etc = transportation; hounds, retrivers, etc = hunting;collies, Autrailian shepard, etc = farming; Akita, Eskimo, etc = ice transport....

I am not sure about 'general business' though. I am open to suggestions for that one!

Give it good going over. I hope it meets your need(s) to some degree. I appreciate your feedback very much as this is one of the first attempts I have made at "remastering".

Thanks!

Hi.
Yikes! Please don't replace osmo with planner, just add planner ! In my opinion we need both.
I suppose the attached dog is a fine mascott if you're selling coffins at your POS... (No icon for dark humour ? Shame.) :P  We have to search some more. Mind you, sbp is very distinguished :), just "abstract" ! (My opinion only, of course)

Yeah, I'll give your puplet a good rub.

Salut.
