@e_mattis :
Success! (See attached.) :)

A few notes :
* what are the default codename and password for POS, so we can test it?
* java link leads to /mnt/home/java, which is not there ?
* openbox menu desn't recognize installed French language pack?
* osmo mislabeled as planner in wbar, whereas it's more properly a PIM
* we would need to add the real "planner" (project planner) provided in wary/racy.

But those are only details we can correct later, really.

Wow! Bravo!

---- Traduction ----
Réussite ! (Voir ci-joint.) :)

Quelques remarques :

Ouf ! Bravo !

@e-mattis :
As an aside, sbp, as a title, is a bit abstract. :) Would you know of a dog breed that's mostly used in business, or has a "merchant" instinct? 8) :P

Have fun!

@tous :

Thanks Musher,

Sorry, thought I provided them earlier  - the credentials for the POS are

 username: admin. password: pointofsale

/mnt/home/java is where it is located on the frugal install I used to build it. I made sure the .pet file was with the iso. :?: Not sure why it would work if /mnt/home is not there, but when I tested n another computer it worked!? :?

Dont know why openbox would not recognize the Fr pack. Did nothing to openbox as far as modifications go. may be a bug in 5.2.8? :?

As far as Osmo goes, yes, it would be better named PIM. The 'planner' from wary /racy would probably be a better choice to plan, but Osmo suited at the time...not great, but usable. I'll have to see if I can get the planner to replace osmo.

Small Business Pup is just what came to me - popped in my head you can say. I don't really know of a breed that is associated with business in general. Some of the ones I think of associated in this country:

Doberman, Gernman shepard, rotweilder, etc = Security systems; Saint Bernard, dalmation, etc = rescue; bulldog, wolf, etc = transportation; hounds, retrivers, etc = hunting;collies, Autrailian shepard, etc = farming; Akita, Eskimo, etc = ice transport....

I am not sure about 'general business' though. I am open to suggestions for that one!

Give it good going over. I hope it meets your need(s) to some degree. I appreciate your feedback very much as this is one of the first attempts I have made at "remastering".

Thanks!

@e_mattis :
Hi.
Yikes! Please don't replace osmo with planner, just add planner ! In my opinion we need both.
I suppose the attached dog is a fine mascott if you're selling coffins at your POS... (No icon for dark humour ? Shame.) :P  We have to search some more. Mind you, sbp is very distinguished :), just "abstract" ! (My opinion only, of course)

Yeah, I'll give your puplet a good rub.

Salut.

hehe - had you worried there a min huh?

Didn't replace Osmo, did add planner...great minds I guess LOL :D

yes, I know my 'pup' is not in the absolute flow of what you guys are doing. As stated earlier, It was created with a specific genre in mind - small, one-shop business owner starting out. I do hope it might inspire though.

Anyway, the planner.pet can be found at http://distro.ibiblio.org/quirky/pet_pa ... hacked.pet. Attached is a screenshot of it incorporated into SBP for you. Let me know how it works for you!

Kexi from Koffice

#55 Post by Pelo »

Bonne nuit everybody.

Mattis, you are welcome and thanks for yr interest in the matter.
I let you manage with Musher0.
I am not found of your Jpeg,
We have to make the difference, this product will be for workers, not business men.
Try to find a look like super Mario bros. Even to us, like a lihgthouse in the sea, to keep the aim !
product must be light, easy to use for non well educated people, and having no much time to have fun with computers. They are earning their life.

Salut !

Hi, e_mattis.
I suppose you are brushing on the subject of the philosophy we should have for this distro, and the target users. I don't think we're that far apart.
The vision is developing and perhaps getting richer the more we work on it. Initially we envisioned tools to help the artisan and the professional working from home. (Actually it's pelo who got the ball rolling, searching for accessible programs for his brothers.)
From "small, one-shop business owner starting out" to "artisans and professionals working from home", the distance is not far, they're pretty much in the same situation. Somewhat synonynous in my view.

Salut, e_mattis.

Hey all!

@ Pelo
I understand the type people you are trying to reach. There are more people familiar with computers now, though unfortunately it is windoze they are familiar with. At least here this is the case. I am just trying to help by providing ideas and maybe a laugh or two :D

@ Musher
True, the 'start-out one-shop business man' may not be too far apart from the work-at-home types. My mom is one of the w-a-h people. She uses most of the 'windoze' counterpart to the programs I have in SBP (wish I could get her to switch to puppy  ). She uses an office suite (ms office..grr), an accounting software, fax program, and something simular to Osmo the most. So maybe there is some ground that can be overlapped here.

Just as an 'FYI' (for your information) - We talked about some cloud things at one point. Just so you can see somewhat of the idea I perceived, I found this today:

https://www.infostreet.com/

Tried it out a little. It has some business apps and such - most are free, but some cost - So i thought i'd offer it for your inspection :)

Thanks!

E

Salut à tous!

@ Pelo

[url] https://www.infostreet.com/ [/ url]

Merci!

Yeah, that's a concern. We'll have a lot of convincing to do. Fortunately, the base distro (Puppy) is solid.

Mighty query 1.0.7

#63 Post by Pelo »

@pelo.

A+

Télécharger la version 1.0.7 à l'avant-avant-dernier message (par smokey01), sur cette page : http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=68596.
