Hello, all.

The "file1" utility by Ian Darwin has been updated to v. 5.12 a week ago, on Jan. 4, 2013. Please see http://www.darwinsys.com/file/ and ftp://ftp.astron.com/pub/file/ (at bottom of listing). The changelog is here : http://mx.gw.com/pipermail/file/2013/001018.html

"file" is used to determine the type of a file. It is used by less (http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=595992#595992) and git, among other programs.

Compiled and checked on lupu 5.25-retro. There is no screen capture. Actually, you never see it, since "file" runs as a background executable on call by other programs. Nevertheless, it is important that Puppy keep its "file" utility up-to-date.

Enjoy! Smile
