Slacko 5.3.x .pets can safely be used in PuppEX 5.3.3.2 (2012) - right? ...Trying to find the "right" puppy configuration...

Yes you can. PuppEX is based on Slacko (it's a very good Pup btw, I use it myself).

Please pardon the next question (I find puppy's labeling system a little confusing) ...this would be the correct repo for PuppEX slacko - ftp://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pet_packages-slacko14/

I think that's for slacko 5.4. This is for 5.3 ftp://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pet_packages-slacko/
