uDig - a GIS Viewer/Editor that works on Precise

#1 Post by dancytron »

All I had to do was download the zip file and unzip it to the root directory. Then I loaded the java sfs I had from Lucid 5.28. Then run the obvious script in the uDig folder either from the terminal or from rox filer.

I tested it a little. It accessed Open Maps, a geotiff of a topographical map and a sid file and put them in layers in the right location and viewed them fine.

It is a big file 221 M still zipped. I'll probably try to sfs it.

The java sfs I used was java_jre-6u22-Lucid-sfs4.sfs

It is lightning fast.

edit: Here is the homepage. There is some good sample data there. http://udig.refractions.net/

edit again. Seems you can put the udig directory almost anywhere you want (including under home and get it out of the save file and it just works. And you can set the work directory inside the program.
