Internet connection drops after 15 min [solved]
Hello,
In Wary 5.5 I'm seeing the internet connection being lost after 10 or 15 min (usually just after I've written a long email and before I've sent it ). The wifi connection to my home router is not lost, it's the internet connection. Going through the wifi connection wizard (even though I'm still connected) sometimes restores internet access. I'm more inclined to blame this on Comcast than on Wary, but I don't see it in other OSs. Could it be something in my setup? Any ideas?
Thanks

Could you open a terminal and give us output for your wireless adapter...
Code: Select all
lspci -nn
Code: Select all
lsusb
Thanks!

ardvark and Flash,
Thanks for the responses. I feel like the guy whose car goes "nggggx!x!x" but it won't do it while at the mechanic's. Anyway, among other things I tried this from ardvark's link
If problem returns, I'll update and post lspci -nn output as requested.
Flash says "Puppy does not constantly ping the ISP". Is this the same in all puppy versions?
Thanks!

and I haven't had a drop since... yet...Adjust the following advanced wireless settings:
Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 50
Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2304
If problem returns, I'll update and post lspci -nn output as requested.

Stay Connected
It is built in to some Puppies, go to PuppyMenu > Internet > Stay Connected to Internet
If not in Your version.
Download pet from here:

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
