Precise 5.4.2 on AMD Athalon XP Processor 3000+ 798MHz 513Mb RAM I don't know what a PET is. I don't know what a kernel is. Complete. Linux. Noobie. I have a Broadcom B43 (lspci = B4306) internal wireless wifi card. I managed to load the b43-firmware-LP-PHY.pet on the computer with the OS. Somehow, I was able to 'see' the wireless networks, but unable to connect. Really not sure what changed. Now, I cannot even see the wireless networks. I have been able to blacklist b43, ssb, and b43+ssb to no avail. wlan0 is still there, but b43 & b43legacy both give me an error. Now, when I scan for wireless, I get the error: Failed to raise interface wlan0. Failed command was: ifconfig wlan0 up. Error returned was: ifconfig: SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory. rfkill indicates that my wireless is not hard blocked. Any other ideas to get rid of this error? and I see some lines repeated that may be the culprit.
As indicated above, I have done enough groundwork toknow that I have a wireless card that may either be b43 or b43leagacy. I don't see a next step for Puppy at the website. I was hoping that the file b43-firmware-LP-PHY.pet is the driver that I needed. Any suggestions on finding this file and getting my wireless running? SOLUTION - Added afterwards If the final result of computer software is not as expected, start from the beginning and re-trace the step. Wlan0 now seeing wireless and connecting to them.
