Is there a Power Point viewer for Puppy?

#1 Post by dgerman »

Is there (and how do I install it if there is a power point viewer?

PS I did do a search for power point( all terms) and got 20 items none of which addressed power point .

Suggestions on better searching would be appreciated.

hey dgerman

libre office has a powerpoint alternative - I've never used it so can't tell if it's MS compatible, google should help

libre is normally installed as an sfs file so download to the same location as puppy and then sfs-load-on-the-fly from setup in menu

:)

Hi dgerman, Freeoffice does a nice job of dealing with PowerPoint files and is smaller than LibreOffice.

Try putting quotes around your search topic, "power point". That should help. Also powerpoint is one word.

There is a powerpoint viewer available from microsoft which runs in wine but it only handles .ppt files not .pptx and doesn't handle recent animations. It was part of office 97 and was repackaged for 2000 and 2003. The above mentioned Linux office packages work better.

Both of the above a good ways to look at powerpoint slide shows. Another way is, if you have a hotmail account, you can open them in a browser if you email it to yourself. Works really well for all types of MS Office files.

Tonicpoint-viewer worked for me, but is a Java app (needs a jre).
You can get it here. Then, launch it like this:

Code: Select all

java -jar tonicpoint something.ppt
If you're cool with Google, then google-doc is a great option.

Thanks, but.

Gosh, I feel so lame.

So I clicked , menu, setup, system SFS-Load on-the-fly.
up pops SFS-Load on-the-ft v1.9.5

Code: Select all

You can load or unload extra SFS files on the fly

Load SFS unload SFS
[____________] # (Nothing loaded.)

       +Load -unload

                                                     Quit
Where # is a browser folder opens Gtkdialog Search,Recently used root file System sr0

Entering libre respondes with fatal:/root/libre.sfs not found.

What am I missing?
