Custom screensaver? |
|
I'm transitioning to Slacko from Windows, but I'm still fond of my old screensaver (Sky Screen Saver, from http://www.fourmilab.ch/skyscrsv/ ).
Since I already have Wine working anyway, I can activate the screensaver's executable with a quick
wine ~/Downloads/Sky.scr /s
... but I don't know enough about Puppy's internals to have that command run when the screensaver timeout kicks in. I'd rather not spend the extra 20 megabytes to install XScreensaver. Is there some configuration textfile I can edit which would run the above command, instead of the default blank-screen screensaver?

I've fiddled with xlock a bit, yes.
So far as I've figured out so far, xlock has to be activated manually, instead of automatically being triggered after so many minutes of inactivity. Which puts me back at the same question in my initial post - is there some way to get that to happen automatically?
(Relatedly, the source code for my screen saver of choice is available at http://www.fourmilab.ch/skyscrsv/download/3.1b/skyscrsc.zip - but while it's in C, it's for Visual C. Figuring out how to compile such a beastie so that it doesn't require wine is well beyond my current skills - but I'd be ecstatic if anyone else reading this happens to know how...)
