How to search through my stuff in Puppy?

#1 Post by Antipodal »

I would like to know if Puppy has a tool that's similar to the one I used in the M$ environment in which I grew up.

I can't remember the name of that tool now, but I do remember that if I typed a word in its search box, and (in another box) the name of the partition or folder in which I wanted to carry out the search, it would produce a list with all the files (and the path leading to them) that had the word I was searching for.

Could you please help me with this?

That sounds similar to the WinXP "Search Companion" (which had a picture of a small dog associated with it, amusingly enough...) -- the Puppy equivalent is Pfind ;)

HTH.

It sure does :!:

Thank you very much! :)

I was wondering which would be the best version for my Slacko but I'll ask about that if I have any doubts after reading this thread

Thank you Zigbert!

I think most puppies have pfind build in already (but I don't use slacko so I"m not positive)

Where does one find *Pfind* in the Slacko Puppy Menu?
(Sure would be nice if all the Puppies had *Pfind* or equivalent program showing on the desktop, just sayin')
