Subject description: search resulted in a 304byte pet

Hi,
Please could I have some help and advice on this one?
The end result I am trying to achieve is to read a webcam in python. I have to install OpenCV and pygame and I already have PIL

In general, should I be using pip to install python modules or should I be looking for pets? In the past it has been a bit hit and miss. Sometimes one works and sometimes the other works best.

Tonight, I have tried
# pip install pygame

and I get the following...
Downloading/unpacking pygame
Downloading pygame-1.9.1release.tar.gz (2.1MB): 2.1MB downloaded
Running setup.py egg_info for package pygame

WARNING, No "Setup" File Exists, Running "config.py"
Using UNIX configuration...

sh: smpeg-config: command not found

and then it goes into a never-ending loop somewhere and never returns to the hash prompt.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.
Paul
