How to display additional thumbnails with ROX-filer?

Curiosity got the better of me

Your kind green blinking eyes always see far and clear...

I also ended up installing this lot (approx 20MB)

I am going to test this and try to make (if possible!) a global pet package for those who are interesting in: obviously, I cannot integrate 20 additional MB to my iso just to be able to have thumbnails. It is nevertheless very convenient when working on pictures...
EDIT: I presume VideoThumbnails should work properly too?

Catdude found the solution (only one 30K file is required) .

Here is what you need to do:

Copy the file from the attached tarball to: /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders
so that you have this: /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-xcf.so
Now open a terminal and run this command:

Code: Select all

gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders	

That's all that needs to be done.


Restart the Xserver, then go to a directory which contains some GIMP (.xcf) files.

You should now see thumbnails of the .xcf files

Hi

I believe that the tarball Argolance has attached above
is the one i compiled for him in tooppy_1-0_precise-5.4.3.iso

If anyone wants to compile it for a different Puppy version
you can grab the sources here: http://gitorious.org/xcf-pixbuf-loader/mainline/archive-tarball/master

Note, that the command was specific to Precise also,
you may need to run a different command in another version of Puppy.

Another suggestion...

Run 32 bit windows version of IrfanView in wine emulation

If I remember right it shows the thumbnails of various paint programs.
I'll check tonite if it shows GIMP thumbnails.

I checked on fatdog64 and Rox filer will show the thumbnails of gimp format (ORA)
and it doesn't use xcf-pixbuf-loader
