dial up modem for most puppys?

#1 Post by DipStick »

right now im using a hcf modem and im dling at avg 1.5k sec
atm im on wary5.0 but i have lupo528, slacko 5.3 and another wary--512
thought i've grown rather...fawn of wary5 ..i do want to try (all / ) the other ones with internet-ablity ( i don't think netzero worked on them, tho idr)

it took me 12 hourish to dl each one on microlimp faildoze 2000
and that was at a random 3-6k sec....with wary5 it took me 20mins-ish to dl 2mb,

in all......stop me from using faildoze :'(

Wary and Classic Pup 2.14x are the best choices for dial-up modems.
The other Puppies are built with newer kernels, so dial-up support tends to drop off.

Zoom 56K Dialup USB modem on Wary511,431,precise55 all work

#3 Post by bill »

This is an AMD64 Acer that Zoom worked well on Wary511,431,and Precise 5.5.What I liked mostly is not having to remove covers for PCI installation.Model 3095 has a USB pigtail and the module itself is less than half the size of a pack of smokes and powered by USB.A natural for my HP Laptop G60 with unmentionable software on which I use 431
on a memory stick.
