What does that have to do with nooby's problem with the YouTube downloaders acting off, though? I don't think I've seen any specific notes in the FF updates since v16 that would indicate there were any issues that would stop YouTube or the downloaders from working, unless you updated.

(And, for the record, I tried that with my Puppy Firefox setup - it still thinks v16.0.2 is the latest version. I'm not overly worried about it, though.)

nooby - which downloaders are you having a problem with? You might try others, or even sites like www.keepvid.com.
I use the UnPlug extension with FF and Seamonkey, but for FF, you'll probably have to visit the UnPlug extension page at addons.mozilla.org, or the developer's homepage, and manually select the newest beta version.

Semme I get same result as Makoto told you about.
It says that my FF17 is up to date so that is kind of cool Smile

Edit. Is there some log that can show which addons one had
a day ago? or does all such get flushed out?

Makoto I should have written down their names they came up
first thing on the addons so either them change that all the time
or they have same now.

the one I use now I gave link to in my first post.
Download YouTube Videos as MP4
I've used it now for hours today and not a single crash
while the two first crashed every time.
the others have similar names to this one.

could maybe have been this one
http://www.bestvideodownloader.com/

But it depends on if they always give same recommendations
but it looks a bit like one of those I tested earlier today and yesterday.

Have you tried the GTK-Youtube viewer?
It has options to view or download youtube videos and has worked for me.
There are versions for Puppy Lucid and Slacko.

I did not know about it so thanks for sharing I usually use Firefox
so how does this GTK-Youtube viewer work? Maybe there is an example
on youtube even? Smile I drown in all the suggestion
but here is screenshots

No, I have nothing blocking it. I can access it just fine.

My 'issue' with Firefox is actually something more weird than that, and I'll carry it over to the 'original' topic.

The GTK-Youtube downloader was linked by Semme.
Thank you!

It can be used as a stand alone viewer downloader that does not require a browser such as Firefox or Seamonkey.
Just remember that if you are using a frugal install with a pupsave file to save your downloads outside of the pupsave as some of the files can be quite large.
Also, further information on it is available in the link Semme gave.

A few days ago I downloaded firefox-19.0.tar.bz2 from Mozilla, unpacked it into a folder in /mnt/home and run the firefox executable from there. It has since updated itself twice and as of today the latest version is 19.0.2

So it seems that the report that your FF17 is up to date is not accurate.

I apologize for my sloppy writing. I actually agree with you.
And I trust Makoto would agree too. The problem is
that his FF16 see itself as latest and my FF17 does also
see itself as latest.

I trust it has to do with some built in logic of how them
check for things and that that could be what you and Semme
try to tell us.

What I would have to do is either start a new instance of
Slacko and there do as you do the problem for me is
that I don't know how to recognize which is the executeable
wow do you know that? And can one place some link to it
on the pinboard/desktop or link to it from the Browse icon.

I don't mind to test FF19 but did not some had problem with
compatibility with addons? Them need to be updated too.

And I already have .mozilla on the HD in same place so
I would need to have two such then for to keep bookmarks
and passwords and settings of UTF8 ?

I easily break things due to my computer clumsiness
so ???

When you unpack the FF19 tar.bz2 in your desired location it creates a folder called firefox. In the top level of this folder are files called firefox and firefox-bin. Either file will execute the program. However in Thunderbird you need to use the thunderbird file as the thunderbird-bin doesn't start the program. In Filezilla the filezilla executable is found in FileZilla3/bin when you unpack it. I'm far from an expert in these matters, I just find out by trial and error what works, it's usually an executable text file. If you create a desktop file as in my previous post FF gets added to the internet category in the Puppy menu.

I can't really comment on that as I only have Ghostery tracking blocker addon installed and that was fine with FF19.

Ah now I get it. When I want to start FF19 again
then I have to go into that folder and click on the
firefox-bin file and not on the browser icon cause that one
wake up the FF17 somehow despite me changing name on that Directory.

I test it and report back. I guess it will make me loose all bookmarks
and extensions and passwords and all of it again. Too tedius to
repair it several times a day Smile

I always backup a copy of my bookmarks to a file in my documents or somewhere safe (removable media) so I can reinstate them easily if I have a disaster with Firefox. In Firefox go to History/Show All History/Import and Backup. Here you can backup and restore your bookmarks or export and re-import them to and from HTML.
