Nixnote sfs

#1 Post by tronkel »

A forum member Antzus is having problems with the Nixnote 1.1 sfs that I uploaded some time ago. The Nixnote client will not sync with the Evernote server, throwing a missing SSL cert exception. I've checked this out with the latest stable version of Nixnote (V1.5) running under Linux Mint 15 - where it syncs no problem. All versions of Nixnote throw this exception in Puppy Precise 5.6.1. Java is also involved here.

Has anyone else come across this in Puppy?

hi tronkel

i just tested the latest nixnote.deb in precise 5.6.1 (pfix=ram) and it synced fine....

there maybe a problem with the .sfs file though as i couldn't log in and sync with that, possibly because it's too old. i'ld recommend updating it to the latest nixnote

OK, can confirm that Nixnote syncs OK in the current Puppy Precise 5.6.1 using Shinobar's java sfs from here:

http://puppylinux.org/wikka/JavaRuntimeEnvironment

So the problem is at least in part Java related

The version of Nixnote used was nixnote-1.5_i386.deb that you can download here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/neverno ... s/Current/

This is the current stable version of Nixnote
@antzus

Let me know if this works for you. If it does, I'll convert the deb to an sfs and supply a download URL

Here's that complainer Tronkel mentioned. :wink:

I just installed that .DEB file. I usually try stick to SFS and PET files, because I've hosed my system a few times using Ubuntu packages and whatnot. But this version ran without error on Puppeee - a modified version of Puppy 4, with JRE 1.7.0_21. It's quite a resource-heavy program for my minimum-spec computer here, though!

SSL cert errors I expect would be a Java thing. Nixnote needs some libraries which aren't included in older or more stripped-down version of Java Runtime, though I can't tell you right now which libraries exactly.
