rdesktop issues

#1 Post by kjacobs »

Hi there,

I am fighting rdesktop trying to access my windows xp machine running RDP. I have followed this thread.....

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 1869#91869

for creating a shortcut to save my server info. Everything works except the -u command for the username. The shortcut fails to launch when putting the -u command in. Works fine with the -p and -g commands....just not the -u command. Curious if there is something i am missing about the username when using rdesktop to access a win xp computer???

I am unfamiliar with rdesktop, and you made no mention of an error message, but as a wild guess I am betting that your username has a space in it. Try putting it inside quotation marks.

If that doesn't solve your problem, please run your rdesktop command from a terminal window and report any error message.

AHA! That was it.....my Windows machine has a username with a space in it. The quotations around the username solved the issue. Whew!.....a huge THANK YOU!

You're welcome.

Glad it worked.
