regarding tftp and imageservers

#1 Post by Aeon »

So the plan is to have a tftp server on the gateway with puppy linux installed. This sends the image to the imageserver. Originally we would install the tftp on the imageserver, however apparently it doesn't work through NAT very well so we'll do it on the gateway instead.

I'm using dnsmasq for dhcp and dns and I saw it has tftp too so decided to use it for tftp too.

I have a few questions:
- What is this image? Is it an ISO of the whole puppy linux distro? Is it just a few files? Where would I find these files?

- How do I send this image to the image server? I have enabled tftp in dnsmasq, but surely that can't be all?

Sorry for asking so much, but I dont really have anywhere else to go.

Ok I got the initrd.gz and vmlinuz on the imageserver. Should be ok I think.

I just downloaded the whole iso and extracted the files from it. I'm kind of wondering what the tftp server is supposed to do tho...
