I should have been more straightforward. I want to compile my own kernel. There's about 3.5GB of free space available on the SD card, that hosts all my puppies and stuff. Will this space be enough for compiling the kernel? My goal is to make it absolutely machine (atom n270) specific and to include drivers only for the onboard equipment. Nothing else. This should result, as I hope in something extremely small and fast and efficient.

Anikin. First thing. I have not ever tried kernel compile in SD card, so I dont have experience how it succeeds.
During compiling the kernel source folder growths, when the modules are created. I dont know the exact size but...I think you will need at least 1.5 Gb for kernel source directory for safe compiling. It could be that the peak need is even bigger, but I havent checked that. I use kernel-kit which compiles kernel outside Puppy, and so I dont see the hdd consumption straight. 1.5 Gb I think you should reserve at least.

Swap to an nV MX440 with 128MbDDR fixes garbled video. Radeon can do it with only 64Mb!
Couldn't get your CLI to run; might be finger trouble - will retry on older board (when I find one).

Also runs well on old Soltek/Duron/RageIIC in 384Mb, but on a P4 with 256 there is extensive CD access when browsing, suggesting the boundary of adequate memory for recent Puppies has shifted from 192 to beyond 256. Maybe find a new use for that pile of 32 & 64 strips to combine with 256!
A Propos your CLI, second line, glib-compile-schemas, gives You should give exactly one directory name. As a non-coder, afraid I don't know the significance of this message.

In console:
ln -s /usr/lib/glib-2.0/glib-compile-schemas /usr/bin/glib-compile-schemas
and then...
glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas

No...they are from Raring .deb packages. Straight from Barry Kauler's DISTRO_SPECS.
Sorry.

Hi,
when running Gnumeric from terminal, here get these «CRITICAL» messages:
Quote: | # gnumeric
** (gnumeric:16352): WARNING **: Error retrieving accessibility bus address: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.a11y.Bus was not provided by any .service files
** (gnumeric:16352): CRITICAL **: go_conf_add_monitor: assertion `node || key' failed

** (gnumeric:16352): CRITICAL **: go_conf_add_monitor: assertion `node || key' failed
** (gnumeric:16352): CRITICAL **: go_conf_get_node: assertion `parent || key' failed
** (gnumeric:16352): CRITICAL **: go_conf_add_monitor: assertion `node || key' failed
** (gnumeric:16352): CRITICAL **: go_conf_get_node: assertion `parent || key' failed
etc...
etc... |
this did not happen with gnumeric-1.12 installed from debian-sid packages on dpup-whezy ( -->see wheezy thread).
cheers, charlie

Charlie6. Those looks like to be goffice related messages.
I have now upgraded bash, hardinfo, included PupClock, PupControl, Pup-SysInfo, fixed Python, fixed missing schemas compiling binaries symlinks to /usr/bin, updated libllvm to 3.1, messed with dbus, now dbus is like I have used it with dpup and upup precise. I had nice symlink hunting until /etc/init.d/dbus was launched right.
Xchat launching to the puppylinux forum with random upupuser string fixed. Geany has modified preferences.
Pupscan, pupcamera and usb_modeswitch files have been updated to the fixed ones.
I will check logs and give this build sanity test and then I hope I will upload this version.
Aarf reported that sfs_load-1.9.6.2 in my build crashes his system. Sfs_load version is from this url link:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=688301#688301
Could you give sfs_load a spin and report. It has worked for me just fine all the time.
