Hey guys!

I'm completely new to Linux. I am trying Slacko Puppy 5.4 on my Samsung n140 netbook.

My problem is that when I unplug the computer, the screen brightness dims a lot and I can't increase the screen brightness unless I replug the power cord.

I have tried to use Monitor Gamma Calibration and the tool xbrightness, but both were not able to properly increase my screen brightness to a level similar to the plugged state. (Gamma Calibration made the screen impossible to read and xbrightness only allowed me to further dim the backlight).

What can I do? The usual Fn-keys don't work.

Sub_title: screen brightness control (works on Samsung N100)

I have used xbacklight with great success on a Samsung N100 running Puppy431 and also Slacko55PAE when the brightness-control function-keys wouldn't work.

It should also work on your Samsung N140.

usage: xbacklight [options]
xbacklight -h for help

usage: xbacklight [options]
where options are:
-display <display> or -d <display>
-set <percentage> or = <percentage>
-inc <percentage> or + <percentage>
-dec <percentage> or - <percentage>
-time <fade time in milliseconds>
-steps <number of steps in fade>

Download xbacklight-1.1.pet and click on it to install it.
You will have to use the xbacklight commands from the console eg
xbacklight =100
