Opera Browser .PETS
Opera Browser .PETs are now provided by BarryK and available via the "puppy-common" repo in Puppy Package Manager or from here:-
http://distro.ibiblio.org/quirky/pet_packages-common
So I have removed my ones.
EDIT:- Other people's packages are available, but if anyone wishes to try my ones they are uploaded as .sfs and .pet to my Yandex Disk here:-
http://yadi.sk/d/zTshLczR4wHj8
I believe a lot of people still run Lucid in which I have observed that Opera accumulates lots of large crash report text files in /root/.opera/logs even though Opera is running OK and not crashing. Just something to keep an eye out for.

Semme, I always appreciate you bringing stuff to my (and everyone's) attention.
I have only had chance to test Opera 12.16 very briefly and in that brief time there were a few things I was unsure about (including Flash Player crashing the first time I tried it). I have stuck a .PET in the first post but folks should be aware of my reservations. The rendering problems on a couple of websites remain. We will have to see what happens with the new Opera 15 or whatever it will be called.
Since I uploaded my Opera 12.15 .pet, BarryK has produced a .pet of this version which is in the pet_packages-common repo. Users wanting an Opera Classic in .pet form may prefer to go for that "Official" one.

Thank you OscarTalks.
I think a reference to which puppy the .pets are compiled for, should be included in the thread title.
You also mention Lucid, which Lucid?
What are the common .pets for quirky; common to all cpu versions, or common to all kernels, or what?
tallboy

Re: Opera Browser .PETS
Good morning, OscarTalks.
I tried to add it, but it wasn't offered. I tried to add puppy-quirky-official , but it hasn't shown up in the main GUI window.
After the problems reported by keniv in the Lucid Puppy thread, I tried tried (in my un-expert way) to see what the newer Operas do
that makes them better; don't really understand.
Someone said there was a 11.64 version, so I've installed that
from opera_11.64.1403_i386.deb
I'm using that now.
Both this and the 12.16 seem to work.
Can anyone advise as to whether I'm in any danger using 11.64 ?
Thanks,
Sheldon
Just now, I'm using rerwin's new Lucid Puppy, and don't have a "puppy-common" repo in Puppy Package Manager.OscarTalks wrote:Opera Browser .PETs are now provided by BarryK and available via the "puppy-common" repo in Puppy Package Manager

Yes, there are some 12.15 & 12.16 Operas there, thanks.

What will happen with my My Opera email?
The service will, along with My Opera, be discontinued. In the meantime, we suggest you sign up for a new provider and make sure to take care of the emails you want to save. Also, it would be a good idea to set up an auto-reply in your My Opera email to inform your contacts of your new email address. Here are a few free email providers you may want to check out:

Opera's blog
That’s four months from now. We want to give you enough time to move to a new service and to think of what do with your content. To make this transition as smooth as possible, we've created two tools to help you maintain your blogs and photos. You can preserve all your content with two simple steps:
Export your blog. You can easily take this file to WordPress, Squarespace, Typepad, Movable Type, Drupal or many other weblog-hosting sites.
Download all of your content. You can learn how to do that here.
Finding a new home can be tricky. Here are two good articles that might help you decide where to move to next:
