One more question....

Does anyone know if FreeOffice gives you terminal command options like LO or ABI? You can convert document formats through terminal with those two.

Best,

Not that I can see .... open and save would be the way.

Batch processing as such is in the paid version...well need some carrots to dangle to make a living :)

Ok but in theory a paid version would allow for batch processing through terminal?

Not sure about through terminal..since its also a windows program I assume something a little more sophisticated like a gui for the purpose.
I never have used macros but libreoffice does them if you wanted to play I believe.

Read ODS format?

#35 Post by ThoriumBlvd »

I have quite a few ods format spreadsheets from LO4. In some other threads there was (is?) concern that FreeOffice does not read ods format. I suppose I could convert to csv sheet by sheet and reload into FO. Otherwise, I found that FO is quite compatible for my needs. Is FO reading ods files now?

I've just bought an upgrade from FreeOffice to SoftMaker Office 2012 for Linux for Eur 14.99 (US$ 17.99). It has now special discount for first 200 takers, normal price is Eur 29.95 (US$34.95).

Buy it from here:
http://www.softmaker.com/shop
and use coupon code "ifro".

Actually I just need the equation editor, btw

I downloaded and loaded the SFS and am having a problem that it appears that no one else has experienced before: the dialog boxes are too small and cannot be resized. See the attached screenshot.

I loved SoftMaker 2008 and might be returning to that (didn't have that problem) if no one has a solution for me.

Any thoughts?

It appears this is a jwm bug that is fixed in version 895 (possibly reappearing in some later versions). See jrb's comments here for a .pet to try.

With respect, this one has a way to go to catch LibreOffice. It reminds me of the old MS Office (1997 or 2000, I think). I should know, I'm still running the old MS Office on one.

Anyway, it's still nice to have some options.

Best,

for us amateurs its nice to have a program to write a short document that opens in a fraction of a second AND do the job rather than wait 20 seconds or soo...98% of the proffessional wordprocessor features are just superflous to us simpletons :D

Only libre feature i find useful is booklet printing option....

I don't think the intention is to mimc the full bloated sheebang of MS office (lets justify the cost features) but its pretty decent when it comes to compatibility and lets face it office 2000 did the job in hand...

Esmourguit provides Free Office for French configuraton with his Toutou Wolx.. Slickpet
Free Office is a nice suite. Try it
I don't understand why our dev only think about the huge Libre Office..
For our Puppy Linux, alternative can be KDE office too, but i found bugs . Gnome office with an old Abiword would satisfy most of house-keepers for their montly accounts. But personally i like Softmaker Free Office, just to change my habits.
