I think that continue to use ubuntu is to have paid the right to go to hell and not to heaven.

Go to Mint. It's Ubuntu compatible in almost every way imaginable, except that it doesn't have the spyware.

Also Mint ditches the goofy Unity interface and gives you good options, such as Mate, a fork of Gnome 2, KDE, Xfce, and Cinamon, a continuation of Gnome 3.

Been using Mint 13 for half a year as my secondary system to Puppy and I'm very happy with it as an Ubuntu replacement.

I think "fork" is the right word, again. They decided the user interface in Gnome 3 is rubbish so they forked it and made it more "traditional".

The spyware is in the search feature in the Unity desktop environment, when a search is made, it sends the search to a remote server to send ads.

I don't use Ubuntu for this reason, also, it is too slow on my computers.
As long as Unity isn't included, the Puppy should be clean.

I'm not sure if Lucid Puppy just has package compatibility, or if it is based on Ubuntu. (On puppylinux.org, the download page says that Lucid is an Ubuntu compatible build.)
