I don't know if this is really a bug, or I'm doing something wrong. If it is a bug, is it a bug in Linux or in Puppy?
I run Puppy from a multisession DVD, in a computer that has no hard drive. The computer can handle a maximum of 2GB RAM but I started out with 1GB. The "free" command in Puppy's console said there was a total of a little over 900,000 KB of RAM. When I tried to install OpenOffice I couldn't, apparently because Puppy needs even more RAM to do it. Today I added another 1GB stick of RAM. The computer's BIOS says I now have 2,031,616 KB total RAM, but "free" still reports only 905,800 KB total RAM.
Any suggestions?
Later: Turns out there is a kernel option called himem that is missing. See this thread in the developers forum.
