Need a simple puppy for farmer to do vat online.

#1 Post by number77 »

Hello
My friend has bought a laptop to do his vat returns, a Toshiba c670, p6200 at 2x 2.13gb with windows 7. He has never used a computer before.
Its totally full of rubbish and far too complex for him to use. I dont want to learn win7.
I have a spare hard drive and wanted to put on puppy but 5.28 doesnt have a rtl 8188ce wireless driver. I need a puppy with this driver also reliable and suitable for this laptop.
He is a farmer, doesnt want a computer and vat online is compulsory. I have to do his vat return and Id like him to be able to do it himself.
Any ideas please.

rtl8192ce (supported devices)
Supports PCI-E devices based on the RTL8188CE and RTL8192CE chipsets.
Introduced in Linux 2.6.38,7 enabled at linux-2.6 2.6.38-2.

Just posting this info. Some other member can tell you what Puppy has the right kernel
for your chip. It is 3am here so good night. 8)

How about http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=82607?

I don't know about the drivers/kernel.

Hi,

Where in Europe is your farmer friend?

Have you already sent an online VAT Return for him and,
if so, did you use Commercial Windows Software or perhaps
a Free online PDF form from the VAT Authority?

Did/will you merely type the VAT details supplied by your
friend (or do you also compute any VAT entry figures)?

Make sure the VAT input on the computer is reclaimed.

It may be more than a matter of drivers - if UK based -
google "hmrc vat100 online" and perhaps 'phone their help-
line (to check on Linux/Puppy submission where there is
unlikely to be any suitable commercial software).

My regards

No need for commercial software just go to vat site with any browser, log in to your account and fill in the form. Email by return.
Two problems wifi isnt installed by 5.28 and correct driver is not there and I have to do it for him as windows7 is too complicated.

Install this pet from tempestuous in 528 and you should be good to go.

Note the warning
Make sure your Puppy version is actually 5.2.8, not 529, otherwise the driver will be incompatible.
