Manna-2.8 (Beta2) Subject description: last woof with precise-5.5 |
|
Hello Everyone,
I have done a woof2 build of Manna OS built upon precise-5.5 with the latest fixes to woof just before BarryK did precise5.6(Beta1). So any fixes to woof since than will not be in this one.
There have been fixes to the Xorgwizard that you can read here
http://bkhome.org/blog2/?viewDetailed=00226
I have made some modifications to jwm and to the PPM. JWM has a new category called of course Manna and the PPM also has a new category called the same. This will show what programs are available just as the other ones do. Make sure you check the manna-repo and restart the PPM just like the others. Everything for manna will install in the manna category in the menu.
I have just did a Beta2 build and uploaded it.
FIXES:
Add the standard menu back in along with the manna special menu they both will have a entry in the menu right below the Help to switch to the other menu. You will need to wait about 6sec. for the change to be completed.
All my teachings now will not uninstall the icons in the menu for that category.
wbar now will have a symbolic link in the Startup folder in root.
ADDED:
vlc-2.0.3 in the repo
Also made a Favorite category in the menu. To edit just change the category in the desktop.file of the program you want in that category. Type this in it's place X-Favorites for the category in the desktop.file
It has kernel-3.2.44-nopae-i586-precise
Manna-OS 2.8 is 178mb and devs is here http://smokey01.com/Oldyeller/manna2.8
Cheers

Hi oldyeller.
I did download your Manna 2.8, yesterday. It boots straight to the graphical desktop without the need to use nouveau.noaccel=1 as a boot option (precise 5.4 did need this as well as MacPup 529). When detecting the optical drives it seems to take a few seconds more to release and also when changing keyboard and language settings at the welcome splash GUI takes really long time to offer option to restart X after settings changed.
Anything else seems to be Ok here.
The missing menu entries are a bit confusing - not only because of such smart Applications like the woof built in LazY FReD * can not be used out of the box.
' really surprising to me...
I did download mainly because I wanted to have a look at your modifications on the PPM, but unfortunately the Manna category didn't offer anything (I did everything as you described to configure/refresh/restart the PPM) - however: I will examine the code though.
Just one thing to say: please, in the name of the Lord, give LazY FReD back to the Manna People! .
Greetings,
RSH

Hello Everyone, RSH;
here is the code to put the menu full back into Manna This file is in /etc/xdg/templates/_root_.jwmrc this is the one you want
| Code: |
<Separator/>
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-desktop.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-system.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-setup.menu
<Separator/>
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-utility.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-filesystem.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-graphic.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-document.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-manna.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-business.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-personal.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-network.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-internet.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-multimedia.menu
PUPPYMENU jwm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/puppy-fun.menu
<Separator/>
|
replace this over the menu code that starts and ends with the <Separator/> and install a pet and you will have the old menu back along with the upper part that I added.
NOW LazY FReD will be back in everyones few and use
As far as the PPM goes here is a pic to look at make sure the (Any Type is showing)
Cheers

Hi.
Regards the PPM:
Seems to be my fault, I'd select both of the Manna categories - then the field was empty.

To see any of the pets in the Manna category you need to have the any type selected as shown in the above post.

Hello Everyone,
While I was looking at the standard menu I did notice that the mannaeditor had no icon in the menu. I have made a pet to fix that issue.
Cheers

Hello Everyone,
I have modified installerwb so that it will show up in the Favorites along with BibleAnalyzer and theWord. I also did e-sword.
You can get installerwb-manna2.0.pet here http://www.smokey01.com/Oldyeller/pets/
Don't forget that e-sword is not in the installer you can get it here http://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html
If you have wine installed already just delete the BibleAnalyzer, theWord and e-sword.pets; you can install these: they will go into the Favorites menu
Enjoy

I'm a regular Ubuntu based Puppy lover, and what's more your avatar reminds me of my Lab, sadly parted to the Rainbow Bridge, at 13, nearly a year ago.
So I'm gonna give your new Pup a try. Sounds great, and versatile etc. I'll let you know how it goes with my bad habits, not to mention electricity cuts when it's stormy (I live in the back of beyond on a mountain, in a 60 person village! And I know I should buy a whatsit, to keep my PC going a little while, and shut down been saying it for ages ) Here goes the d/loading.
Thanks for your work, I'm just too lazy at the moment

Wow, that's pretty cool!
I live in a town with 200,000 People and I hate it!
I wish I could live there!
Really!
