The machine is running a frugal install of 5.2.8
I've tried changing the video to use the Vesa driver as the video
is the only thing I can think of as being different.
No I didn't change drivers. VESA was being used and still is
The same files copied onto a different machine never seem to freeze.
The freeze is to the point that caps-lock and numlock don't change the lights.
cntrl-alt-backspace has no effect.
It seems to happen only when a lot of graphics is being done.
Any trouble shooting hints?

I've manually edited the xorg.conf to not use some extensions so that I can see if something not absolutely needed was causing it.
I've tried just letting it sit for a few minutes to see if it digs its self out of the hole.
I'm typing this from firefox 3.6.13 on the machine in question
I've got about 10 tabs open with graphics and video in each just to try to make the issue happen.
Puppy 5.2.8 hangs on one PC [Edit]

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
