hey Zigbert, after downloading the 330 dotpet i keep getting an error as in attachment. It's something to do with data storage. Anyhow, pmusic 330 won't load now at all when selected from menu. Whats the problem here do you know?

Depending how you upgraded, this removal bit may straighten things out.

deleted /root/.pmusic, no nothing happens when I try to run pmusic from menu. There also is no entry in htop for running processes. Although there is now a new .pmusic entry in /root

Try installing the Pmusic .pet again after you delete /root/.pmusic.

Your: gtkdialog -v is probably shy of 0.8.3 >> @ 0.7.21.

I'd guess ffmpeg's less and there's no coreutils installed..

i've upgraded gtkdialog and ffmpeg, dont know which coreutils from here http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/coreutils/ to take. Now pmusic is running, i've got a GUI, however there is no sound when selecting 'play' button. What command to find x86 architecture?

Are you still on 5.29 or is this a newer pup?

still on 529. There is also a message after clicking on play at bottom of gui - 'source not detected'.

If there's no coreutils in PPM (update), grab'm from here.. then retry play.

# bash --version should <I'll assume> state some GNU build..

I tried that link, but where is the download file? The disk icon only brings me to another page.

Code: Select all

sh-4.1# bash --version

Will anything else in Puppy make a sound? For instance the barks.

I once spent a week trying everything I could think of, including reinstalling Windows, to make my sound work, only to discover that the reason the sound didn't work was the speakers were plugged into the wrong jack on the back of the computer.

the sound is working fine on everything else, just watching youtube now and its ok

You've upgraded ffmpeg?
How have you done this?
Why have you done this?

Is this MacPup 5.2.9? If so is it not based on Precise?
Precise does not have ffmpeg, it has libav instead.

This might be why you are having troubles with Pmusic.

Stiginge- your upgraded gtkdialog.. this one >> gtkdialog4-0.8.3-i486.pet.. or from where?

Does the current build include some *required* feature that the previous one lacks?

From the help menu, ffmpeg >= 0.11? Yes?

Remove the wikka pkg and reinstall the 'upgrade for recent computers' build in PPM.

I got gtkdialog4-0.8.3-i386.pet, NOT i486

ffmpeg-0.11.1-r-20120805.pet

Uninstalled ffmpeg, failed to install ffmpeg1-0.6-i696-Lucid.pet, got error message from PPM. Also got same message from different server.

Errors? Update PPM and try again. Otherwise, here. If install fails- 'update' PPM.
