Please add a link to the official vala page which is hosted at gnome:
https://live.gnome.org/Vala
Linking to genie only is bad, because it causes a wrong impression.
Following that link you'll see "These Genie/Vala pages are no longer being updated" at the top.
However pages like [stack] show tat even Unity is based on Vala.
